The Non-Traditional Traditional Headshot

punch headshots

Headshot - A head shot is a photographic technique where the focus of the photograph is a person’s face. Headshot is essentially the same as portrait. However, headshot is an image that portrays people as they are and is more of a ‘mug shot’. (from wikipedia) Headshots…. They can be the bread and butter of a photographer’s existence and simultaneously the suck of their creative soul. Imagine how thrilled I was when I got an email asking if I could do some headshots but with an edge, not “the catholic school girl look”. It got even more interesting as my contact person was interested in getting headshots done for two very different business – a law office and an advertising agency. Couldn’t be on more opposite ends of the spectrum! A challenge I was ready to take on! First up –

Taylor - 2012 Senior Portrait

Sometimes right in the middle of a shoot you know you are getting something spectacular. Taylor totally brought it and more to her session. We set it all up 4 months before he arrived! As we got closer and closer to his due date I had to refrain myself from emailing his mom and repeatedly asking “Is he here yet??” Well I can finally say – He’s Here, He’s Here!! Meet Lil Mr. N!

Mommy and Me Photo Session

Mommy and Me

A few weeks ago (ok maybe more – I’ve been a wee bit busy…) my favorite mommy blogger, (cool) progeny, sent me a Facebook message asking if I’d be interested in doing a Mommy and Me photo session with her and her daughter. Of course!! We started the afternoon off ‘sharing’ goldfish and quickly moved to jumping on the bed, reading books and singing songs. Wheels on the Bus was a huge hit!! It was such a fun afternoon filled with laughs and giggles.  I love when I get to photograph the connection and love between parents and their kids. It’s a special kind of love! (cool) progeny even wrote up a review of the day on her blog!
