Hangin’ with The Boys (A Day with Father and Son)

When was the last time you saw fun, professional images of a Dad with his child? I’ll give you a minute… EXACTLY!! This is something that’s been on my brain for a long, long time – years actually and I wanted to change that. I wanted to capture the pure joy, love and affection between a father and his child and I knew I found the perfect pair for this project when I met these two!

How did I know and where did I meet this charming pair? Back in October I went to THE football game at Kent Island High School (that little rivalry between Queen Anne’s and Kent Island – yeah, that one). I was part of a large group of people – friends of friends etc – and these two were part of our group. We sat in the stands screaming and yelling and the whole time the little one was bundled inside his dad’s jacket being held, cuddled and loved. It stuck with me. After the holidays, I asked our mutual friend if she could put some feelers out to see if the ‘boys’ would be interested in helping me out with my project. It was a resounding YES!

The morning of the session started with me getting two text messages from the dad showing me outfits choices and asking which ones should they wear. It tickled and thrilled me that they were as excited about this session as I was! Both boys were looking dapper when I showed up. We quickly got down to business – playing, eating and crawling all over the house. These two together are a special thing to see. The instant they make eye connection it’s big smiles all around! I can’t thank them enough for allowing me to be part of their world for a few hours and letting me put their love into images.

I have so, so many images that I love and want to share that I made a video of the entire day – enjoy!

It was a great day. Liam has been my hero since the moment I knew he existed. Couldn’t wait to meet him, touch him,and hear his voice.I never knew kids had such a distinct smell,I can pick out Liam’s smell in a crowd. He’s the biggest accomplishment of my life. Now to the difficult part, how do I explain to a year old that we are in a blog? Once again thank you for capturing a part of our lives on “film”(who uses film in today’s age?) You did a wonderful job and your work will be viewed many times over the years,I show him off to anybody who will look at pictures of him(some times against their own will,ha!) Liam and I wish you the very best in your business, with dedication that you have towards your work,I don’t think much luck will be needed.
